Restaurant l’Ambroisie, Vence

Vad gör man en vanlig vardag när helgerna tagit slut, men man ändå är ledig och vill förgylla dagen? En utflykt och god lunch, kan vara en bra idé.

Vi åkte några stycken vänner upp till Vence. Att hitta ett bra ställe för lunch är inte helt lätt. Många restauranger har passat på att stänga efter den intensiva jul- och nyårsperioden. Vi lyckades dock leta upp en som var både öppen och fått hyfsade omdömen.

Restaurang l’Ambroisie ligger i ett smalt högt hus ganska nära gamla torget i Vence. Det finns ett parkeringsgarage alldeles i närheten, vilket förstås underlättar för den som kommer med bil.

Det var knappast fullsatt när vi kom, och det kan man nog inte förvänta sig den här tiden på veckan och året. Vi blev väl bemötta och satte oss i den snygga och trevliga matsalen i ett ljust hörn med vacker utsikt ut mot bergen bakom staden.

Kanske hade vi måttliga förväntningar och blev riktigt imponerade av maten. Först fick vi en amuse-bouche som verkligen väckte aptiten. Sen följde förrätt och varmrätt ur den synnerligen prisvärda lunchmeny som vi beställde.

Vi valde alla i sällskapet olika rätter ur menyn som erbjöds, och gillade det vi fick serverat. Vi åt bland annat fois gras, coquilles st jacques, filet de daurade, volaille avec risotto, pavé de beuf och annat mycket mumsigt. Tillsammans med ett glas gott vin blev det en värdig födelsedagslunch i goda vänners lag.

Kocken Bruno Seillery verkar ha höga ambitioner och förtjänar uppskattning. Vi kommer säkert att komma tillbaka för att njuta av hans mat igen.

How do you spend a common weekday when the festivities are over, but you are still free and want to brighten the day? An excursion with a good lunch can be a good idea.

We made a tour to Vence together with friends. Finding a good place for lunch is not easy. Many restaurants have taken the opportunity to close after the intense Christmas and New Year period. However, we managed to find one that was both open and had decent reviews.

Restaurant l’Ambroisie is located in an old house pretty close to the old square in Vence. There is a parking garage close by, which of course facilitates for those who come by car.

It was hardly crowded when we arrived, which is not expected this time of the week and the year. We were well received and seated in a bright corner in the nice dining room with a beautiful view over the mountains behind the town.

Perhaps we had moderate expectations and were really impressed by the food. At first, we got an amuse bouche that really stimulated the appetite. Then followed starter and main course from the very reasonably priced lunch menu that we ordered.

We all chose different dishes from the menu, and liked what we got. We ate fois gras, coquilles st jacques, filet de daurade, volaille avec risotto, pavé de beuf and other delicious things. Along with a glass of good wine, it became a worthy birthday lunch in the company of good friends.
