En skön promenad mellan Roquebrune och Monaco!

När jag är ute och går vill jag ha ett trevligt mål. Oftast, för att inte säga alltid, så är målet en god restaurang. Självklart kan man följa min promenad utan att avsluta med en lunch. Längs denna väg kan man även med fördel ha med sig en picknick, eller gå iväg på eftermiddagen och vara hemma lagom till middagen.

Det är en enkel väg som är underbart vacker och lämpar sig de allra flesta. Emellertid passar den bäst vid vackert väder och då vinden håller sig lugn, men säg, vilken promenad är inte bäst då?

Nu ger vi oss åstad!

Vi tar tåget den korta sträckan från Menton till Roquebrune.

Vi går ut från stationen och går åt höger upp på järnvägsbron. Där tar vi första stigen till vänster och följer havet. Innan jag tar av här brukar jag först gå över bron där det ligger en liten ”buvette”. Här stärker jag mig med en kopp kaffe. Blåser det är man inte ensam vid kaffeståndet, för här samlas glidflygnings-fantasterna innan de beger sig upp till Mont Gros.

Dit upp kan man även åka med buss, men det är en annan utflykt!

Dags att gå tillbaka över järnvägsbron igen och vika av på stigen längs havet som leder till Monaco.

Njut av den spektakulära utsikten som ger minnen för livet.

Väl framme i Monaco så hamnar man på baksidan av Monte-Carlo-Country-Club, inte så vackert, men vi fortsätter rakt fram längs stora vägen in mot stan och håller utkik till höger för där finns så småningom en hiss ner till Strandpromenaden. Den kan man följa och gå igenom den vackra Japanska trädgården och därefter ser man Casinot uppe i Monte Carlo. Där är det alltid roligt att titta på turisterna som njuter av de vackra bilarna och de tjusiga fasaderna på Casinot och Hôtel de Paris.

När jag kommit så långt är jag alltid väldigt hungrig och går ut och ner mot hamnen. Nästan nere vid hamnen med en fantastisk utsikt över både hamn och ”le Rocher”, Monacos gamla stad och slottet, ligger min restaurang Miramar. Det är en modern restaurang med god mat och sympatiska rätter. Adressen är: 1 Avenue.J.F Kennedy.

Telefonnummer:+377 93 30 86 48. Som vanligt kan det vara klokt att boka bord. Vill man sitta vid fönstret och titta ut över hamnen ska man vara medveten om att det blir rejält hett på sommaren.

Efter lunchen går jag tillbaka mot Casinot och avstår ibland frestelsen att sätta mig på Café de Paris för att avnjuta en fruktansvärt dyr ”digestif” och titta på det märkliga folklivet.

Hemresan till Menton kan ske antingen med tåg eller med buss 100, som stannar vid Turistbyrån. Tänk på att den bussen ofta är överfull under rusningstid.

Men ni kanske väljer att gå tillbaka?!

A pleasant walk between Roquebrune and Monaco!

When I’m out walking I want a nice goal. Most often, if not always, the goal is a good restaurant. Of course, you can follow my walk without ending with a lunch. Along this walk can also bring a picnic, or start in the afternoon and be home in time for dinner.

This is a quite easy walk that is very beautiful and suited for most people. However, it is nicest in fine weather and with little wind, but honestly, aren´t all walks best in those conditions?

Now let´s go!

We take the train the short distance from Menton to Roquebrune.

Going out of the station and turn right up to the railway bridge. Take the first path to the left and follow the sea. Before I take off here, I usually first cross the bridge where there is a small ”Buvette”. Here I strengthen myself with a cup of coffee. If it´s windy you will not be alone at the coffee stall, as here is the gathering for devotees of hang-gliding before they head up to Mont Gros. Up there you can also go by bus, but that is another excursion!

Time to go back over the railway bridge again and turn off the path along the sea that leads to Monaco.

Enjoy the spectacular views that provide memories for a lifetime.

Once in Monaco you end up at the back of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, rather ugly, but continue straight ahead along the main road towards the town and look out to the right where you will eventually see a lift down to the promenade. Follow the seafront and walk through the beautiful Japanese garden and up the hill you will see the famous Casino in Monte Carlo. Head up to the Casino as it is always fun to watch the tourists enjoying the beautiful cars and the fancy facades of the Casino and the Hotel de Paris.

Coming this far I am always very hungry and hurry up out along the promenade down towards the harbor. Almost down at the harbor you will find my restaurant Miramar, with a great view of both the port and ”Le Rocher”, Monaco’s old town and castle. It is a modern restaurant with good food and sympathetic dishes.

It may be wise to book a table. If you want to sit by the window and look out over the harbor be aware that it will be significantly hot in summer.

After lunch, I stroll back to the Casino and sometimes refrain the temptation to enjoy a terribly expensive digestive at the Cafe de Paris, looking at the strange world go by.

The return journey to Menton can be done either by train or by bus 100, which stops at the Tourist office. Keep in mind that the bus is often crowded during rush hour.

However, you might choose to walk back instead ?!
