Ristorante Casablanca, Vallecrosia

Härligt, nu har vi hittat en ny bra restaurang inom räckhåll.

Vi råkade samspråka med en trevlig man när vi åt lunch på ett av våra andra favoritställen, restaurang St Ives i St Agnes. Av honom fick vi tipset. Ett par dagar senare bestämde vi oss för att undersöka om hans goda ord om en italiensk restaurang stämde. Det gjorde de!

I Vallecrosia väster om Ventimiglia finns Ristorante Casablanca på Corso Marconi nere vid havet. Det är alls inget tjusigt ställe men snyggt och prydligt. Matsalen är ganska rymlig med stora fönster så du kan njuta av både maten och utsikten. På sommarhalvåret är det säkert trevligt att sitta utomhus men vi valde nu ett bord innanför fönstren.

Det är tydligen någon som har fått utlopp för sin dekorationslust när lokalen inreddes. Färgerna är mustigt soliga och Ingrid & Humphrey hedras med en stor bild från filmen Casablanca på väggen vid baren.

Vi valde att pröva Frittura Mista och Spagetti Vongole vid vårt första besök. Det smakade utmärkt! Till och med brödet var gott, vilket är ovanligt i Italien där det brukar serveras ganska tråkiga brödbitar på de flesta restauranger. Vi kommer säkert att återvända.

Det är möjligen inte värt en lång omväg men nästa gång du passerar igenom Vallecrosia kanske du vill pröva den här restaurangen.

Great, we have found a new good restaurant within easy reach.

We happened to chat with a nice man when we ate lunch at one of our other favorite places, restaurant St Ives in St Agnes. From him we got the suggestion. A few days later we decided to investigate if his positive words about an Italian restaurant were correct. They were!

In Vallecrosia west of Ventimiglia, you find Ristorante Casablanca on Corso Marconi down by the sea. There is nothing fancy about this place but it is neat and tidy. The dining area is quite spacious with large windows so you can enjoy both the food and the view. In the summer months it must be certainly nice to sit outside, but tis time we chose a table indoors.

Obviously someone has found an outlet for her or his decoration desire when the place was furnished. The colors are bright sunny, and Ingrid & Humphrey are honored with a large picture from the movie Casablanca on the wall by the bar.

We tried Frittura Mista and Spaghetti Vongole on our first visit. It tasted delicious! Even the bread was good, which is rare in Italy where they usually serve pretty boring pieces of bread in most restaurants. We will certainly be back.

It is possibly not worth a long detour but next time you pass through Vallecrosia you might want to try this restaurant.
