En ny eko-butik i Menton / A New Eco Shop in Menton

Bit för bit tar vi oss mot ett hållbarare leverne. Nu finns det en ny efterlängtad butik i Menton – Naturalia på Avenue Felix Faure strax väster om Carrefour.

Såvitt jag förstår bygger idén bakom Naturalia på att allt som säljs ska vara långsiktigt hållbart för miljö och människor, inte innehålla onaturliga tillsatser eller gifter och inte skada eller otillbörligt utnyttja de som odlar och tillverkar produkterna. Det låter ju bra och självklart! Går det att argumentera för att det någonsin skulle vara annorlunda?

Sortimentet är brett. Det finns bröd, färskvaror, konserver och specerier av olika slag.

Man behöver alls inte vara asketiskt lagd för att handla på Naturalia. Det finns naturligtvis viner – vi är ju i Frankrike. De är förstås alla biodynamiskt odlade. Många olika sorters choklad har jag också hittat.

Det finns också en hel del kem-tekniska produkter och ganska många hudvårds-produkter. Dessutom erbjuds vitaminpreparat och andra saker som ser ut som naturläkemedel. Min franska är inte tillräckligt bra för att jag ska förstå vad allt egentligen är.

Naturalia är en kedja som etablerades redan 1973 i Parisregionen. Idag finns ungefär 115 butiker på olika håll i Frankrike och också en näthandel, www.naturalia.fr. Såvitt jag kan se, finns det butiker även i Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Toulon och Marseille här nere i Sydfrankrike. Butiken i Menton är fräsch och ganska stor med trevlig och hjälpsam personal och generösa öppettider. Vi kommer säkert att handla där ofta.

Efter vårt första besök kom vi hem med en del av livets nödtorft – ett par flaskor vin, en bit ost, en röd paprika och stora fina druvor.

Bit by bit we are moving towards a sustainable living. Now there is a new, eagerly awaited, store in Menton – Naturalia on Avenue Felix Faure, west of Carrefour.

As I understand it, the basic idea behind Naturalia is that everything offered in the store must be sustainable for environment and people, it must not contain artificial additives or toxins and it must not damage or negatively exploit growers or producers. This sounds good and undisputable! Is it possible to argue that there would ever be differently?

The range offered in the shop is wide. They sell bread, fresh products, canned goods and groceries of various types.

One does not have to be ascetic to shop at Naturalia. Of course they sell wines – we are in France, after all. No surprise, they are all organically grown. Many different kinds of chocolate, I have also found.

You will also find many chemical-technical products and quite a few skin care products. In addition, there are vitamins and other things that look like natural remedies. My French is not good enough for me to understand what it all really is.

Naturalia is a chain which was established in 1973 in the Paris region. Today there are about 115 shops in different parts of France and they offer ecommerce, www.naturalia.fr. As far as I can see, there are also shops in Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Toulon and Marseille here in the south of France. The shop in Menton is nicely organized, have helpful staff and generous opening hours. We will certainly be there often.

After our first visit we came home with some of life’s necessities – a couple of bottles of wine, a piece of cheese, red peppers and big fine grapes.
