Le Palais Carnolès är mitt favoritmuseum i Menton.

Palatset ligger i ena änden av en underbar park med alla olika sorters citrus-träd. Det är en härlig oas precis vid gränsen till Carnolès.

Den vackra byggnaden var förr sommarresidens för Monacos prinsar men är nu ett museum som innefattar två delar. Nedre botten som brukar hysa temporära utställningar och övervåningen med den fantastiska permanenta utställningen som visar konst från flera sekler.

Nu ska museets nedervåning renoveras och skulle egentligen stängt sina dörrar den 14 september. Emellertid är renoveringen uppskjuten och utställningen med Charles Wakefield-Moris enastående kollektion förlängd, minst till slutet av september. Passa på att se konnässörens konstsamling för perioden 1900 – 1939 med verk av många välkända konstnärer och motiv som får mig att drömma. Har vi tur så kommer renoveringen inte igång förrän sent i höst. Staden har inte bestämt sig än, vare sig när exakt renoveringen ska påbörjas eller om övervåningen kommer att vara öppen under restaureringen.

Muséet har öppet alla dagar i veckan utom tisdagar. Givetvis lunchstängt mellan tolv och två, men då kan man passa på att njuta av parken som är öppen dagligen från morgon till kväll.

Det är fritt inträde och man har en liten butik med vackra kort och intressanta böcker. Hälsar Elisabeth

Le Palais Carnolès  is my favorite museum in Menton.

The palace is located in one end of a wonderful park with all kinds of citrus trees. It is a lovely oasis right on the border of Carnolès.

The beautiful building was formerly the summer residence of the princes of Monaco but is now a museum which comprises two parts. Downstairs, which usually accommodate temporary exhibitiexhibitions and the upper floor with the fantastic permanent collection with art-pieces from many centuries.

Now the ground floor is going to be renovated and should actually close on the 14th of September. However, the renovation is potponed and the exhibition of Charles Wakefield-Mori’s outstanding collection extended, at least until the end of September. Take the opportunity to see the connoisseur’s art collection for the period 1900 – 1939 with works by many wellnowned artists and paintings that make me dream. If we are lucky, the renovation will not start until late this fall. The city has not decided yet when exactly the renovation will start nor if the first floor will remain open during the restauration.

The museum is open every day of the week except Tuesdays. Cloesd for lunch between twelve and two, but then you can take the opportunity to enjoy the park, which is open daily from dawn to dusk.

Admission is free and there is a small shop with beautiful postcards and interesting books. Greetings Elisabeth
