Grace of Monaco & Menton?

We have written about movies set out in Menton before, and now there is one just about to be released. The English text continues below after the Swedish version…

Vi har redan tidigare skrivit om filmer som utspelas i Menton, och nu släpps en sådan alldeles snart. ”Grace of Monaco” kommer att inleda filmfestivalen i Cannes som startar 14e maj och den har sedan premiär strax efteråt i Sverige den 23e maj.

Hur mycket av filmen som nu egentligen visar vårt vackra Menton återstår att se. En av filmaffischerna som kablas ut över världen är i alla fall på huvudrollsinnehavaren Nicole Kidman där hon står på torget framför katedralen St Michel i Menton, med hamnpiren och havet bort mot Italien i bakgrunden.

Jag läste just i en tidning att Monacos furstefamilj opponerar sig mot hur filmen skildrar ”verkligheten”, och sådant kanske väcker ytterligare uppmärksamhet och intresse. Jag ser i alla fall fram mot att se filmen, om inte annat så för att njuta av miljön från Rivieran.

”Grace of Monaco” will open the film festival in Cannes on May 14, and will be released in Sweden shortly after, on May 23.

It remains to be seen how much of beautiful Menton we will actually see in the movie. Anyway, one of the movie posters being spread around the world shows the leading lady Nicole Kidman standing in front of the cathedral St Michel in Menton, with the harbor and sea facing Italy in her background.

Recently I read that the royal family of Monaco has objections to how Grace and her life are presented in the movie. Maybe things like that create extra PR and interest. I look forward to watch the movie, not the least for the opportunity to enjoy the views from Côte d’Azur.
